It bridges the gap between high-performance research sensors and cost-effective mass production by utilizing a chip-based transceiver architecture shared with the popular AT128.

  • “Image-Like” Resolution: With a resolution as fine as $0.1^\circ \times 0.125^\circ$, the OT128 produces a dense, high-definition point cloud. This allows autonomous systems to recognize small objects, such as traffic cones or distant pedestrians, with extreme clarity even at the 200m mark.

  • Integrated Design for Scalability: By reducing the internal component count by 66% compared to previous generations, Hesai has made the OT128 significantly easier to mass-produce. It shares 95% of its core transceiver modules with the AT128, leveraging a proven, automotive-grade platform.

  • All-Weather Perception (IPE): The sensor features an Intelligent Point Cloud Engine (IPE). This technology detects and flags environmental “noise” like rain, fog, exhaust fumes, and water splashes in real-time, allowing software to filter them out and maintain visibility in poor conditions.

  • Unstitched 360° Coverage: Unlike solid-state sensors that require multiple units to be “stitched” together (creating calibration headaches), a single OT128 provides a seamless 360° view, simplifying the hardware setup and perception algorithms.

  • Reliability & Safety: It is designed for a service life of over 30,000 hours and meets ISO 26262 ASIL B functional safety and ISO 21434 cybersecurity standards.
